Where Can You Get Cheap Airline Tickets Online?

Ahmad Abdullah asked:

Air travel has become a norm nowadays especially for those involved in business and international trading. The needs to meet people from other parts of the world makes air travel a must. For a frequent flyer, there is nothing more satisfactory than getting a cheap airline ticket for their entire journey.

Unfortunately for us, the rising trend of people travelling by air gives an opportunity for airline companies to mark up the airline ticket price since they know people will buy it anyway. Fortunately though, the competition between airline companies forces certain companies to give out discounts on airline ticket price every now and then as a marketing strategy to attract customers.

This in turn gives benefit to us. At least the ticket price is not as high as we would expect it to be. The problem is, how, when and where to find all those cheap airline tickets? Sure enough, you would answer : Buy it online, but the Net is like a vast ocean of information and if you don’t know where to go, you’ll be lost without even finding what you’re looking for.

The first thing that you can do to find cheap airline tickets online is go to the airline companies website itself. Most of the time, the price is going to be high since it’s the standard price that they sell to everybody who wants to board their airplanes. However, on certain occassion, you might find special deals made exclusive for customers who book their tickets through the companies’ online booking system.

Although this is uncommon, certain airlines do give out deals every now and then so it certainly worth it to keep coming back to their websites, say once a week. You might hit the jackpot one day, who knows. Deals like this normally sold out quickly so it pays to regularly check for the deals you desire. It is also generally cheaper if you buy it a few weeks or months in advance. So if you can plan your journey well, you’ll save yourself a lot of money.

The next thing that you can do is to go to those travel agencies website and compare their prices. The airline ticket price will vary from one agency to another and they will provide different deals for different destination. If you are a student, you can get even better deals than other people.

Normally, these deals come out during holiday breaks (autumn, winter, spring, summer) as students and most of us spend this time travelling abroad. For international students, these are the times of the year when they have the chance to return to their hometowns so airline tickets will be offered at highly discounted prices at their convenience.

You can also go straight to other travel websites that provide features to search for the best deals on the Net. Normally these websites gather all the information from travel agencies and airline companies websites and compare them to give you the best deal possible according to your specification.

Sometimes since this process is automated, you might not be getting the latest deal from a specific airline company at the time you request the data. Hence you might see a deal from an airline company website not being picked up by the travel websites so it’s good if you can check all of them thoroughly.

In conclusion, there are many websites that you can browse to find the cheapest airline ticket for your journey. You just have to know the place to find one. Once you get the hang of it, finding cheap airline tickets for your subsequent journey would be a breeze. The key thing is to make extensive research and compare prices to get the best deal possible.

5 Ways to Find Dirt Cheap Airline Tickets

Steven Walters asked:

Due to the increasing price of airfare you may not be able to afford that dream vacation you were planning – or can you? Finding some dirt cheap airline tickets could be the difference between staying home or flying off to Europe for your next vacation. Granted it will still be somewhat expensive to fly, but what if you could knock a few hundred dollars off the cost of your airfare. By following these 5 tips you’ll be able to save money and take that vacation you’ve been dreaming of.

Buy your tickets in advance to keep them cheap:

By getting your airline tickets several months in advance you can save substantial moolah. This means at least 3 months in advance for traveling domestically and 6 months in advance for traveling internationally. Avoid peak seasons and holidays and keep in mind that the airlines regularly raise prices for tickets 3 weeks, 2 weeks, 1 week and several days before a planned flight. By getting your tickets early you can avoid these price hikes.

Wait until the last minute to buy your ticket:

You can get some great deals by waiting until the last minute, if you’re willing to be flexible. Not every flight will have vacancies, but when they do a last minute ticket can provide fantastic savings over a full price fare. Contact the airlines directly or check out sites like TravelZoo where they regularly post dirt cheap last minute deals.

Do your homework:

You shop for other major purchases like appliances and autos, you even shop for groceries sales so why not take some time to do some shopping for your airline tickets as well. Don’t take the first fare you find, switch days and times as well as airlines to find the best possible prices for a dirt cheap airline ticket. While you’re researching you can sometimes find the deal of a lifetime!

Know the best times to buy airline tickets:

By tracking the prices of airline tickets you’ll know exactly when they are the cheapest. You can even use sites like Farecast to get predictions of future airline ticket prices to over 75 U.S. cities. Pretty cool huh? This makes it easy to know if you should buy now or wait it out a bit.

Keep in mind too that early morning and late night flights are usually cheaper as are flights in the middle of the week.

Use ticket discounters:

You might have trouble finding tickets for major airlines through discounters, but they can save you a bundle of money at times. The smaller operations usually offer much cheaper flights because they aren’t as popular and don’t have advertising budgets that inflate their ticket prices. With the recent hikes in airline ticket prices these discounters are definitely increasing in popularity.

By following these 5 steps you’ll find it easy to score dirt cheap airline tickets. Everyone should be able to enjoy the feeling you get when you’re able to get a heavily discounted airfare, leaving you more money to enjoy your vacation.

How to Save Money on Airline Tickets

John Layton asked:

There are many websites promoting cheaper airline tickets. If you compare prices between the sites, and some sites even compare between other sites for you, you can find the best possible price. Many of the websites have a lowest price guarantee, so be sure to check the fine print in case you qualify for it.

Another way to save money is to request an e-ticket, instead of having traditional paper tickets delivered to you before the flight. They also have the safety feature of not being able to lose the tickets before the flight, especially if you book far in advance.

You can buy two “back-to back” cheaper round trip tickets instead of unrestricted tickets, which is more expensive. By using half of each set of round trip tickets, you save money. The major draw back to this is you can’t use them toward frequent flyer miles.

If you travel during the middle of the week, instead over the weekends, you can usually purchase cheaper airline tickets. The weekends are higher volume, so seats are at a premium.

Many times a flight with layovers will be cheaper than a direct flight, so if time isn’t an issue, you can save money there. The same goes for flying stand-by is also a money saver. You take the risk of not leaving at a scheduled time, but if you have an open-ended departure and arrival time, flying stand-by saves you quite a bit.

Packages deals that are bundled with either car rental or hotel stays can often get you a reduced airfare. This is a good deal, as long as you were already planning on having those expenses on your trip.

By adding yourself to travel website e-mail newsletters, the send out occasional special deals. If you are able to travel on short notice, some of the deals are well worth the money.

Another great way to save airline ticket prices is to fly to or from a smaller airport within driving distance of your destination. It’s possible to save up to $100 a ticket by doing this. It pays to do your research of the area surrounding your destination.

Another way to save money is by contacting a travel agent. Sometimes they are aware of deals that aren’t publicized on the websites. People have even found great travel deals in the newspaper.

One last way to save money on our airline tickets is to book as early as possible, before the prices rise. Keep an eye on the market value of the tickets and try to determine the best time to purchase your tickets.

Research and educating yourself is the biggest key to saving money when purchasing airline tickets.
