Working for an airline?

Jennifer asked:

If you work for an airline in the airport(Ex: delta, us airways etc.) do you get free or discounted tickets to fly?!

I would think that yes, you would get a discount.
You might even get free drinks and maybe half priced food.
I don’t think you would get a dicount on first class or coach seats.
I think you would just get a dicount on 3rd class seats.

i use to work for qantas, the tickets were very cheap. Business domestically cost me about 73 aus dollars compared to 1500. But staff are always on standby, so we couldn’t get business or even a seat on the flight unless there were spare seats avaliable. First class we would try and get but only after working with the company for 7 years.

I work for a delta carrier and me, my husband, our minor children and my mom all fly for free, we can fly anywhere Delta goes for free. My adult children pay a discounted fare and I get 8 buddy or friends and family passes that I can give out in a year for discounted air travel.
That being said, it’s not as easy as it sounds, we fly what they call “space available”, meaning we only get on the plane if there is an empty seat and with over sold flights these days it’s getting harder and harder to fly for free.
