a: number of people paying a full-priced ticket
b: number of people paying a discounted ticket
3200a + 2900b = 467 200
a + b = 149
–> a = 149-b
substitution:
3200(149-b) + 2900b = 467 200
476 800 -3200b + 2900b = 467200
9600 = 300b
b = 32
a = 149-32=117
117 full-priced tickets
32 discounted tickets

F + D = 149
3200F + 2900D = 467,200
Multiply the first equation by 2900. Then
2900F + 2900D = 432,100
Subtract this from the 2nd equation. So we get
300F = 35,100
so F = 117 so D = 32.

1. let:
Full-priced ticket = x
dicounted ticket = y
2. 3200x + 2900y = 467200
x + y = 149
______________________
3200x + 2900y = 467200
2900x + 2900y = 432100 -
_____________________
300x = 35100
x = 35100 : 300
x = 117
x + y = 149
y = 149 – 117
y = 32
Answer: full-priced ticket 117, discounted ticket 32.

GUYS, I THINK ITS BETTER TO SOLVE IN ONE VARIABLE >_< I’ll solve in Representation, Equation, Solution, Answer. (RESA)
R: x= # of full priced ticket
149-x= # of discounted ticket
E: (3200x) + [2900(149-x)] = 467200
S: 3200x + 432100 – 2900x = 467200
300x + 432100 = 467200
300x = 467200 – 432100
300x = 35100
x = 35100 / 300
A: x = 117
