Non rev passengers on my friend’s airline get hosed! You can not recieve money for damaged or lost baggage or compensation for accidents, etc. You’re not a paying customer so you don’t get the same priviliges as paying customers.

If I were to die in a crash while flying nonrev my husband could not sue the airline for wrongful death or other reasons since I didn’t pay for my seat. I’m not sure if it’s the same on for other airlines.

When an airplane crashes or is involved in an accident there is no distinction between revenue and non-rev passengers. At that point everyone is just a “passenger” and is treated the same.

There can be some differences if you’re referring to things like lost baggage or if there is turbulence and you’re injured, but if there’s a crash everyone is the same.
