Which arlines have children’s fares?

Rachel R asked:

Are there any airlines that offer discounted tickets for kids ages 2 and 9? Thanks!

I have no idea. This time, I got childrens’ rates on United.

When I look for fares, I actually check it each time. You’d be surprised how often I end up buying tickets all at the same price. It can be cheaper than buying an adult and three “kid” fares.

Always do the math for the whole family.

Also, I’ve bought my tickets (usually transatlantic flights) all three ways. I check with the agents, look on the sites and check directly with the airlines themselves. I end up buying them different ways each time so check, check, check!

    Happy shopping!

You don’t usually find discounts for children these days, especially on the lowest fares. Go to a website like Expedia or Orbitz and enter your cities, dates, and the children’s ages. You probably won’t find any children’s discounts, but there’s no harm in trying.

If a child is under 2, he/she can fly for free on domestic flights as long as you hold the child in your lap. However, that adds an element of risk. Although the odds of an accident are very small, you may be unable to hold onto a child if it happens. That dramatically increases the chance of serious injury or death.

Remember, that a child takes up a seat, just like an adult. They also require that same service as an adult.

So you don’t find children’s rates much anymore. You could find cheap fares somewhere, but it’ll be as cheap if it were for an adult.

I dont think any! If your kids use a seat then you get charged for that seat….. Airlines dont care if the person in that seat is 2 of 40!
